deer vs blue tarp

My neighbor recently laid out a large blue tarp on his additional property in attempting to kill the grass in a general area. The local deer took exception to said tarp. Below is video of it from last night.

Bridge Walk, Benzie style

Labor Day brings about the tradition of a bunch of people walking across the Mackinac Bridge.

Benzie County, at 321 square miles, the smallest of the 83 counties in Michigan in terms of land area, has its own bridge walk (no lie, look it up).
I'm sure the local crowd doesn't impact Big Gretchen's walk but pride still the same. Instead of roughly a five mile walk on the Mackinac, it will be a grueling 23 feet on the Cold Creek Bridge...
I've seen the locals, 23 feet is good.
Happy Labor Day.

Observations from a Bar Stool

One of my favorite activities of living in a town that caters to the vacationers is propping myself on a bar stool at the local watering hole and people watching said vacationers as they pass by. Besides Alaska and Hawaii, I believe I've seen license plates from the remaining states come through Benzie County.

Some observations from various bar stools as the summer vacation season winds down:
  • All shapes and sizes, mostly large coming through. I'm surprised I haven't seen the defibrillator make an appearance yet.
  • A lot of Kardashian wanna-bees.
  • There is good yoga pants/shorts and bad yoga pants/shorts.
  • There are no good toupees.
  • Most are pleasant and happy to be on vacation, others not so much.
  • It seems to be a 'vacation' for the kids, a 'trip' for the parents.
  • Beware of the mother who walks in the establishment with family in tow and her arms are crossed.
  • I thought of friend Al as I witnessed a young father trying to resurrect two crying twins (and not succeeding).
  • For those that are familiar with the movie 'Idiocracy', there is a lot of reproducing going on and a good portion of the youngsters seem to fit the 'Cleavon' mold, which is not a good thing.
A few others of actual occurrences:
  • Most establishments post that the bathrooms are for customers only but witnessed one lady who advised for everyone in the establishment to hear that she was going to pee her pants in about 30 seconds if not allowed.
  • One lady came back after her family finished dinner and was adamant that her daughter's gift bag had been taken by the folks clearing the table. The workers checked all areas without success, the lady is not being nice and....in walks the daughter who had the bag the entire time. The lady walked off without an apology and guessing the daughter got a tongue lashing in the car.

The List

As my ADD-whatever brain evolves/declines, the list of tasks is always a nice crutch.

The Great Wall of Frankfort

Project number 58 was completed this weekend as I can now walk out on my patio in my boxers and not give a fashion show to the neighbors.
OCD Tim thought he measured enough to make everything fit where it needs but apparently I was off in one section as the circular saw made an appearance (and some cuss words) late in the process.

Tim the Influencer

Look out Kardashian family as there is another influencer in the social media world. Unbeknownst to me but a friend sent me the attached picture from a popular social media site. A 'chasing the 80's' group within the site adorned my picture for a suggested topic/group to follow. I didn't submit said picture to the group so apparently they pulled it from here, which is fine.
My date that day, Desiree, has more influencer pull than me I would think as she can probably generate a boner army quite quickly with that tan and hair. Influence on Desiree, wherever you are.

Mourning in the front, Jazzercise in the rear

For those individuals who must get their workout in but recently lost a loved one, a place up the road from me allows you to do both in the same building! The local cremation and funeral service establishment recently added a crossfit operation to the rear portion of the building.
Hopefully the walls separating the two are soundproof as I can picture a moment of silence going on in the front as a faint "get those legs up ladies!!!" is heard from the rear.
