A very successful holiday weekend of independence. Fishing with friends, pedaling by funky birds and seeing a beautiful vintage car.
I had no choice in the matter and it's not a perfect place but feeling pretty darn fortunate to have been born in the U.S.A., eh?

One quandary of the weekend. While at Lakeshore Park in Novi on Sunday morning, I encountered the below birds. I have no idea what species they are but were quite tame walking by. If anybody knows what kind of funky bird this is, drop me a line. (EDITOR'S NOTE 7/7/16: E Gus correctly identified the Sandhill Crane. A year's worth of Rice-a-Roni to the Gus family for the answer.)
Three cheers for independence. Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
