After ten fishing sessions and about 100 wacky worms thrown (no lie), it was time for friends to gather and celebrate another season Sunday afternoon at north Dunham. The man of the hour was of course Al C. who took the grandaddy trophy of them all, the prestigious Angler of the Year, during the ceremonies. I hear there is a waiting list and an entry fee needed to board Al's boat next season. The price you pay if you want some green fish. Congratulations also go out to Chickenhawk Dave for the 1st Mate award, Jeff V. for Newcomer of the Year, Raj for Most Improved, and last but definitely not least, Gordie M. took home the also-prestigious Mitchell award.
No pressure next year Al but I've got you ranked #1 in my 2013 preseason rankings. My dark horse for next year is none other than the Angler of the Year's brother, Raj. As a free agent angler, which is never easy because you're usually working the back of the boat, he had the session of the year in 2012 (with asterisk) at Lake St. Clair. As Marty Mornhinweg used to say, "the bar is high!" My "most likely to catch the biggest fish" in 2013 goes to someone who just dipped their feet in the Badwater tour this year, Tim V. Not much rationale for the prediction except that he hits a golf ball and softball pretty far, he's competitive as heck, and most important of all, he gets effing lucky sometimes (ha!).
Fish on!
