Urban Rider

In the spirit of warmer temperatures (and the upcoming bike season!), a shout out today to my nephew Jackson who has taken the love of bicycling up a notch, and then some. A Detroit-er since birth with stops in Yokohama, Japan and Sao Paulo, Brazil in between, Jackson isn't exactly close to the many recreation area/state park mountain bike trails as most are about an hour drive for him. Not to fret for this city rider as there was a club created a few years back to address this; Slow Roll Detroit. Rather than pedaling through the woods, you are pedaling the city and the many neighborhoods it encompasses; a great way to see some of the hidden jewels in the 'D'. Yes, there is more to the city than what you see on the six o'clock news. Jackson I guess you could classify as a sheep herder on these group rides. With 100+ riders (and then some) of all types and skills, his task is important in that he rides ahead of the pack and makes sure everyone turns where they are supposed to instead of ending up on the east side somewhere getting said bicycle taken away by an uneducated fool.
If anybody needs a bicycle, Jackson can also help you in that regard as he fixes up old bicycles. He has so many that his recent housing search has him with a requirement of at least two bedrooms; one for him and one for the bicycles.
Keep on pedaling White Chocolate.
