Mass of Green hits the Windy City

Me and about 5,000 other Spartan slappies converged upon the Windy City Saturday to see if this dream of a football season (not pretty, but getting the W's) would continue. It unfortunately didn't but with a trip to Chicago, you forget about the loss pretty quickly.
The libations were starting early and going strong for my contingent of 5,000 as a group had the State chants going on in the trains out to Evanston from downtown. The chants continued at the bars prior to the game. The liquid confidence was there for these 20-somethings. I had none. This is State football. Need I say more. Needless to say, there were no chants on the train ride back downtown after the loss; just the armchair quarterbacks talking about their glory days. I've heard it before youngsters.
An added bonus after the game in that night time brought out the Halloween costumes as every bar seemed to have an outing going on. I witnessed quite a few cold costume walkers with minimal clothing, toughing it out, trying to hoof it to the next bar; can't mess up that cat outfit!!
The weekend itself gets a gold star for efficiency. The train out of Ann Arbor Saturday morning, in Chicago at 11, get a bonus early check-in at the hotel, train to Evanston, lunch in Evanston, game, train back downtown, hotel, shower, dinner at Harry Caray's (f*****g awesome food) and the first train out of Chicago this morning; home by 1:30 PM. The trains came through and thankfully I didn't have a repeat of that fateful New Year's Eve back in 2008; link below.
